# Metallophyte-Armor

A material ledger for a difficult question: could a pine move copper already present in contaminated soil into monitored, harvestable inner wood?

Tolerance alone is not enough. The proposal has to explain uptake, transport, tissue capture, plant health, timber handling, and final recovery without losing copper between columns.

## Current status

- **Known inputs:** plants manage metals, phytoremediation exists, copper preserves wood, and pine tissue changes as sapwood becomes heartwood.
- **Unproven transfer:** temporarily buffer copper in transport, then capture more near the heartwood transition.
- **Main liability:** no believable targeting mechanism or complete whole-tree copper mass balance yet.
- **Evidence today:** literature review and material-flow design only; no engineered tree or timber test.
