# BioLume Sentinel

A field notebook for a contained reporter plant: one root-zone exposure, one optical signal, then a real chemical test.

The plant is a screening layer, not a pollution meter. The useful question is whether its signal can be specific, repeatable, and readable in messy soil without the organism becoming a new environmental problem.

## Current status

- **Starting point:** plant reporters, autoluminescent plants, phytosensors, and optical readouts exist in published work.
- **Proposed connection:** combine a contaminant-responsive element, a tissue-aware gate, and fixed imaging in one removable module.
- **Likely failure:** ordinary plant stress and mixed soil chemistry could imitate or hide the response.
- **Evidence today:** literature review and system design only; no construct, calibration curve, or field result.

## Repository map

- `index.html` contains the signal chain, failure conditions, proposed thresholds, test sequence, and source register.
- the mechanism diagram is drawn in HTML/CSS; `assets/` contains real reference images and [IMAGE_CREDITS.md](IMAGE_CREDITS.md) records where they came from.
